Powder-coat warranty
The powder-coat warranty depends on the Dulux finish selected for your project.
Dulux Duralloy: 10-year aluminium durability and 10-year colour warranty.
Dulux Duratec: 25-year aluminium durability and 20-year colour warranty.
Manufacturer conditions apply. Coverage can be affected by the property's location, proximity to salt water, environmental exposure, cleaning frequency and maintenance. The applicable colour and powder-coat specification will be identified in your quotation and project documentation.
The difference professional installation makes
An opening roof warranty should cover more than the components supplied in a box. The way the structure is measured, designed, attached, weathered and installed also affects how it performs over time.
GMC Home Improvements has been operating since 2012. We custom-design and professionally install every Sun Blade we supply; we do not sell DIY kits. If you need service or warranty assistance after installation, GMC remains your point of contact.
Caring for your Sun Blade
Regular maintenance helps protect the powder-coated finish, drainage and smooth operation of your opening roof.
Rinse the roof approximately once a month using a normal garden hose.
Do not use a high-pressure hose or pressure cleaner.
Use a soft brush or sponge with warm water and mild dishwashing liquid for stubborn dirt.
Clean grease and smoke residue regularly where a barbecue or outdoor kitchen is positioned underneath.
Keep gutters and downpipes clear of leaves, dirt and other obstructions.
Keep vines, climbing plants and nearby vegetation trimmed away from the structure.
Spray Lanox towards the inside pivot pins every 12 months under normal conditions.
In high-salt or dusty areas, lubricate the pivot pins every 3 months.
Operate the roof at least twice each week to help keep the system in good working order.
Contact GMC before attempting roof access or maintenance if you are unsure how to proceed safely.
Only allow appropriately authorised technicians to perform motor, electrical or control-system repairs.
Making a warranty enquiry
If you believe there may be an issue with your Sun Blade, contact GMC Home Improvements before arranging repairs or adjustments through another contractor.
Please provide your name and installation address, a short description of the issue, clear photographs or a short video where practical, and when you first noticed the issue.
We will review the information and advise the appropriate next step. Depending on the issue, this may involve troubleshooting, a site inspection or referral to the relevant component manufacturer.
Frequently asked questions
How long is the GMC Sun Blade structural warranty?
The structural framing is covered by a 10-year warranty, subject to the warranty terms, normal use and required maintenance.
How long is the Sun Blade motor covered?
The motor is covered for 5 years. Electronic controls, rain sensors and app-control hardware are covered for 2 years.
Are the integrated LED lights covered?
Yes. LED lighting supplied as part of the Sun Blade installation is covered for 2 years, subject to the applicable warranty terms.
Does the warranty cover leaks?
Installation-related leaks or water ingress are covered under GMC's 2-year workmanship warranty. An inspection may be required to determine the cause. Blocked gutters, inadequate maintenance, severe weather or changes made by others may not be installation defects.
What powder-coat warranty applies?
Dulux Duralloy carries a 10-year aluminium durability and 10-year colour warranty. Dulux Duratec carries a 25-year aluminium durability and 20-year colour warranty. Manufacturer conditions, location, exposure and maintenance requirements apply.
Do I need to maintain the roof to retain warranty coverage?
Yes. Reasonable cleaning and maintenance are required. This includes keeping the drainage system clear, cleaning the powder-coated surfaces, lubricating the pivot pins at the recommended intervals and operating the roof regularly.
Does living near the coast change the maintenance requirements?
It can. In high-salt or dusty areas, the pivot pins should be lubricated every 3 months rather than annually. More frequent cleaning may also be required to remove salt and environmental deposits.
Who should I contact if something stops working?
Contact GMC Home Improvements first. We will help identify whether the issue relates to the installation, motor, controls or another component and explain the appropriate next step.
