Hi, I'm Mark, the owner of GMC Home Improvements
I've been designing and building opening roof systems and pergolas since 2012, starting in Sydney with a company called Steel Bond, which later rebranded to Opening Roof Specialists.
Over the years, I've had the opportunity to work exclusively with the Eclipse brand at Opening Roof Specialists. Since forming GMC Home Improvements, I've expanded my experience to include a variety of other leading brands.
This hands-on experience with multiple brands, combined with years of designing and building opening roofs, has given Me a unique perspective and a deep understanding of what makes a quality opening roof system.
When you choose GMC, your project is guided by Mark’s experience from the initial design through to installation and after-sales support.
We know that the difference is often in the details: correct design, suitable materials, careful installation and service after the build.

Learn more about the design and features of the GMC Sun Blade louvre roof system in our detailed guide.
How does a louvre roof manage rain?
When the louvres are closed, the roof is designed to direct rainwater into its integrated guttering and drainage system.
Correct design is critical. A small roof fall is required so rainwater drains efficiently through the pergola structure and into the guttering.
GMC considers roof fall, guttering, drainage and site exposure as part of each design so the completed system is appropriate for the location.
How much does a louvre roof cost on the Central Coast?
The cost of a louvre roof varies depending on several factors including:
• size of the pergola
• whether it is attached or freestanding
• lighting, blinds or heaters
• site conditions and installation complexity
As a general guide, louvre roofs can range from $1000 to $1500 per square metre, every project is different.
Because each installation is custom designed, the best way to understand cost is with a site visit and tailored quote.
Can a louvre roof be attached to an existing home?
Yes. Most louvre roof pergolas are designed to connect directly to the house to create a seamless indoor-outdoor living area.
Depending on the structure of the home, the pergola may attach to:
• the house wall
• the fascia
• structural beams
or be installed as a freestanding pergola if preferred.
Are louvre roofs suitable for coastal homes on the Central Coast?
Aluminium louvre roof systems can suit coastal homes when the design, fixings, finishes and ongoing care are appropriate for the location.
GMC will discuss the site’s exposure and recommend suitable finishes and maintenance for homes in locations such as Terrigal, Avoca Beach and across the Central Coast.
