Attaching a louvred pergola to your house

A louvred pergola that connects to your house is an excellent choice to extend your living space.

During the design phase, we’ll chat to you about 5 main elements. We’ve set them out here so you can start thinking the project requirements.

1 Building regulations

First things first, we always need to plan a project in line with the Building Code of Australia and other local laws or regulations. We understand that building regulations may not be your area of expertise, so we’ll walk you through the requirements that apply to your property.

If the work is going to require a council permit, for example, we’ll help you with this process.

2 Integration with your home

We’ll make sure the pergola integrates well with your home's existing structure and architectural style. We work with a great range of products and finishes, so we’re confident we can match your new louvres, beams and posts with your home.

3 Drainage

Integration includes establishing a seamless connection between the pergola's built-in gutter system and your existing drainage. Our design will effectively direct rainwater away from your property. And it will look like the pergola has always been there!

4 Load-bearing walls

The wall we attach the pergola to must be able to bear the weight of the new structure. We’ll let you know if we find any problems and advise you on the best way forward.

5 Power source

For motorised louvered pergolas, we'll plan the installation to have a power source nearby. We factor this into our price from the start, so you don’t have to worry about hidden costs.
